At sunrise on October 7 2023, thousands of youngsters were celebrating at the Nova trance music festival near Kibbutz Re’im, next to the Gaza border. A celebration of love and peace. The massacre that ensued was the worst terror attack in Israel's history, as Hamas militants brutally murdered 364 of these youngsters, wounded many more, and took at least 40 hostages back into Gaza.
As the youngsters fled from party, they left behind most of their personal belongings. A few weeks later, a civilian initiative meticulously gathered and sorted everything left behind in the sands of Re’im, making the belongings available for the survivors and for the families of those murdered to collect.
These photographs document a small number of these belongings.
